We are committed to ensuring that vendors working on our sites have been vetted through our Contractor Insurance Questionnaire (CIQ) , vendors should also be a member of the Alcumus SafeContractor SSIP scheme and be suitably insured for the risk that they present. We have a moral and legal duty to ensure that vendors working on our premises have appropriate standards of health & safety. Financially, we also need to have checked that the vendor has the necessary insurances for the type of work being carried out, ensuring the insurance policies have an adequate limit of liability (with any public liability insurance being unlimited in the aggregate), to cover any financial loss if something goes wrong.

Definitions

  • Unlimited Aggregate – Aggregated insurance cover limits the ability for an insurer to pay a claim fully. All policies covering hot work (where the nature of work involves heat) must be unlimited in the aggregate, whereby each individual claim is capped at the cover limit, but total payouts over time are not capped.
  • SSIP – Safety Schemes in Procurement, Accredited scheme that audits and examines the Safety management system of a Contractor to identify and accredit Competence to undertake the nature of the work.
  • Suppliers – Vendors that do not do any physical work at site.
  • Consultants – Vendors that do not do any physical work at site, however, do visit site and only produce reports, data and statistics, or provide advice and guidance.
  • Contractors – Vendors that do physical work on site using tools and equipment, to build construct maintain or remove etc.
  • Engaging manager – The person at site engaging the contractor.
  • Sponsor – The 2SFG /BPO site representative that commissions the work or services.
  • Administrator – Site administration for CIQ coordination.
